Before anyone downloads an app, they watch it. On the App Store and Google Play, a preview video sits above or ahead of the screenshots, and on a SaaS or platform website a product tour video often does the same job as the whole hero section. We produce app preview videos and website preview videos for businesses in Dubai and across the UAE, captured from the real product and edited to the rules each store sets.

Those rules for app preview video work in Dubai are strict, and they are not the same on both stores. A video that is perfect for Google Play can be rejected by Apple, which is why this service starts with the specifications rather than the storyboard.

Apple App Store

What Apple requires in an app preview

For app preview video work in Dubai, Apple publishes both technical specifications and content guidance. The content points shape the whole creative approach.

  • App previews must show only content from within the app itself. Apple says not to film people interacting with a device, so no hands, no over the shoulder shots.
  • Previews play muted by default, so on screen text has to carry the message without voiceover.
  • Avoid dates and seasonal references that will age the video, and do not include prices, since prices and currencies vary by region.
  • Content must be suitable for all ages, and you must hold licensing rights for any music or material in every territory.
  • If autoplay is turned off, a poster frame is shown instead, so one frame must summarise the app on its own.

Apple technical spec

  • Length 15 to 30 seconds
  • Up to three previews per localisation
  • Maximum file size 500 MB, maximum 30 frames per second
  • H.264 as .mov, .m4v or .mp4, or ProRes 422 HQ as .mov
  • Stereo audio, 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz
  • Default poster frame at 5 seconds

Apple app preview sizes by device

From Apple’s App Store Connect reference, we record every app preview video in Dubai on, or export for, each size you plan to upload.

Google Play

Google Play app preview video rules

For an app preview video aimed at Dubai users, Google Play does not take an uploaded file. You add a YouTube link in Play Console, and Google’s help page sets conditions on that video that often trip up developers.

  • Use the URL of a single YouTube video, not a playlist or channel, and without extra parameters such as timecodes.
  • The video must be public or unlisted, embeddable, and not age restricted.
  • Ads must be disabled, either by turning off monetisation or by using a video without monetisation claims.
  • Only the first 30 seconds autoplay, muted, so the opening has to work alone.
  • Landscape and portrait are both supported, and Google recommends that at least 80% of the video shows the actual in app or in game experience.

Feature graphic

  • Used as the cover image for the preview video
  • 1024 by 500 pixels
  • JPEG or 24 bit PNG with no alpha
  • Should convey the app’s core value, not repeat the icon

App preview video: where the two stores pull in different directions

The biggest creative difference is framing. Apple’s guidance rules out hands, devices and people, so the Apple cut is pure screen footage with text overlays and motion between screens. Google Play recommends mostly in app footage but leaves room for a short branded opening or closing, so that version can include a device frame or a title card. Length differs too: Apple caps previews at 30 seconds, while on Google Play only the first 30 seconds autoplay. We therefore edit the first half minute of both versions to stand on its own and put any extra detail after it in the YouTube version.

Website preview videos

App and website preview video tours for landing pages

No store reviews these, but browsers and visitors have their own expectations.

Hero loop

A silent, looping clip of the product in use, placed at the top of the page. Browsers generally block autoplay with sound, so it is designed to be understood muted.

Feature clips

One short recording per feature, placed beside the copy that explains it, so visitors see the screen rather than imagine it.

Guided tour

A longer narrated walkthrough with captions, used on pricing pages, in sales emails and in onboarding.

Web files are delivered as compressed MP4 and WebM with a poster image, so the page stays quick on mobile data.

Planning

How a preview video is planned and captured

  1. Pick the three moments

Most apps have a handful of actions that explain their value. We agree which ones the preview shows, in which order, and cut everything else.

  2. Prepare a demo account

You set up a test account with realistic invented data. No real customer names, numbers, addresses or messages appear on screen.

  3. Script the taps

Every screen, scroll and tap is written down so the recording is smooth, with no hesitation, loading spinners or notification banners.

  4. Capture on device

Footage is recorded from the device or browser at native resolution, in each language and orientation required.

  5. Edit and export per store

Text overlays, transitions and music are added, then separate exports are made for Apple, the YouTube upload for Google Play and the website.

Getting installs from your app preview video

An app preview video for Dubai apps is one part of the store listing. Mobile app marketing covers screenshots, store copy and install campaigns, UI UX design makes sure the screens are worth showing, and mobile app development is where we build apps from scratch.

For websites, pair the video with a landing page design built around it. All video and photography services are listed under media production services.

Frequently asked questions

Can the same video go on the App Store and Google Play?

The story can be shared, but the files cannot simply be reused. Apple wants uploaded video files at set device resolutions showing only in app footage, while Google Play takes a YouTube link and lets you frame the experience more freely, so we cut two versions from the same capture.

Our app is not live yet. Can you still make the preview?

Yes, as long as there is a working build on a test device or a staging environment. Screens should be final, because a preview showing an old interface creates a mismatch the moment users open the app.

What will the preview video cost?

We send a fixed written quote, scoped to your brief. The number of platforms, languages and device sizes you need covered decide the scope.

Do you need access to our app's real data?

No, and we would rather not use it. A demo account filled with realistic but invented names, orders and messages keeps customer information off camera and makes every screen look complete.

Can the preview be in Arabic?

Yes. Apple allows previews per localisation, so an Arabic version can be recorded from the Arabic interface with right to left layouts, and a separate Arabic YouTube video can be produced for Google Play if your store listing is localised.
