Bilingual brand guidelines checklist for UAE businesses
What an Arabic and English brand guide must settle in writing so printers, developers and writers in the UAE apply it the same way.

Animated type, icons, data and product explainers, exported in the aspect ratio each platform expects, with captions and Arabic subtitles planned from the storyboard.
What motion graphics are
Motion graphics animate designed elements for Dubai businesses: headlines that build word by word, icons that explain a process, numbers that count up, a product screen that scrolls. They are the quickest way to explain something abstract, such as how a free zone licence works, what an app does or why a service costs what it does, in a format people will watch on a phone.
Kinetic type and simple animation for Reels, Stories, Shorts and LinkedIn, usually under a minute.
Step by step animations of a process, a service or a product, often with voiceover.
Figures from your annual report or a market update turned into animated charts.
Silent loops for exhibition stands, reception screens and presentations.
Motion graphics are not filmed. If you need people, locations or products on camera, see commercial videography or social media videography. A short animated version of your logo is its own service, logo animation, and screen recordings of software are covered by app and website preview videos.
Aspect ratios
A video exported once in 16:9 and uploaded everywhere will show with bars, crops or covered text on most feeds. We plan the ratios for motion graphics in Dubai at storyboard stage and animate each version, so text sits inside the visible area on every platform.
| Platform | Ratio and size | What the platform’s own guidance says |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram Reels ads | 9:16, 1440 × 2560 px | MP4 or MOV, H.264, up to 15 minutes. Leave at least 14% at the top, 35% at the bottom and 6% at each side free of text and logos. Captions recommended. |
| Facebook Feed video ads | 4:5, 1440 × 1800 px | MP4, MOV or GIF up to 4 GB, with AAC stereo audio at 128 kbps or higher. Captions and sound optional but recommended. |
| YouTube (standard player) | 16:9 | The desktop player is 16:9. Other ratios resize automatically, and YouTube advises against adding your own black bars. |
| YouTube Shorts | Vertical | Shorts can be up to 3 minutes long. |
| LinkedIn video ads | 16:9, 1:1, 4:5 (720 × 900 px) or 9:16 (720 × 1280 px) | MP4 between 75 KB and 500 MB, under 30 frames per second, 3 seconds to 30 minutes. Captions must be supplied as an SRT file. |
Specifications change. We recheck each platform’s help centre at the start of a project and export to the current recommendation.
Captions and Arabic subtitles
Feeds often play video muted until someone taps, offices and metro carriages are not places to turn sound up, and the UAE audience reads in more than one language. So captions are not an afterthought. In motion graphics for Dubai audiences, we decide in the storyboard which lines are animated as on screen text, which are spoken, and how each will be captioned.
The W3C accessibility guidelines treat captions for prerecorded video as a Level A requirement, success criterion 1.2.2. The W3C explanation is clear that captions are more than dialogue: they identify who is speaking and include meaningful sound, such as a notification chime that matters to the story.
Burnt in or separate file? Captions burnt into the video always show, which suits Reels and Stories. A separate caption file can be switched on or off and read by assistive technology; LinkedIn video ads, for example, take captions as an SRT file. Where a platform allows separate tracks, we supply English and Arabic files for the same video.
For the Arabic text itself, our Arabic and English translation team writes subtitles that fit the reading time, not a word for word transfer.
Your brief
Every motion graphics project in Dubai depends on decisions that sit outside design; having these ready keeps the storyboard honest and avoids redrawing scenes later.
A list of every platform and placement, whether it runs as an ad or an organic post, and whether sound is likely. This decides ratios, length and how much text carries the story.
Even rough bullet points in the language that leads. If a voiceover is planned, the approved script fixes the timing of every scene.
Logo files, brand fonts with licences, colours, product screenshots, icons and any figures you want animated, with the source for each number.
How it is made
A motion graphics project in Dubai is slow to change once it is moving, so the decisions that cost little to change are made on paper first.
What is said, what is shown as text, and the one action the viewer should take. For ads, the first seconds carry the hook and the brand.
A frame by frame sketch of each scene with timings, for every aspect ratio you need.
Three or four fully designed still frames that fix colour, type and illustration style. You approve these before animation starts.
Motion built on the approved frames, with voiceover and music if used.
Captions and Arabic subtitles added, cutdowns and ratios exported to each platform’s specification.
Running the video as paid media? The static versions of the same campaign are covered by ad design. All design services are listed on the design services hub.

No. Motion graphics are built from design elements: type, shapes, icons, illustrations, screenshots and existing photos. If a piece needs filmed footage, that is a videography job, and the two can be combined.
Yes, if you supply the recording or a voice artist is arranged for the project. Plan the script before animation starts, because timing is built around the spoken lines.

Usually, once the venue or screen supplier gives the resolution, orientation and whether sound is available. Many event screens play without audio, so on screen text carries the message.
Only music you have the right to use on that platform. Meta's Reels ads guidance, for example, excludes licensed music and points advertisers to original audio or Meta's own royalty free collection.
