In the UAE a company stamp still carries real weight. Bank forms, labour and visa paperwork, delivery notes, quotations and contracts are routinely stamped as well as signed, and a stamp that does not match the licence can mean a form is sent back. The core of any company stamp design in Dubai is the trade name exactly as it appears on the licence, including its legal form, commonly in both English and Arabic, with the city or emirate. Many companies add the licence number, and some add a P.O. Box, phone number or logo. Rules differ between licensing authorities in the mainland and free zones, so check your own authority’s requirements before approving artwork.
One published example is DMCC’s company stamp guideline, issued by a Government of Dubai authority. It states that every legal entity in the UAE is required to have a company stamp, and that a DMCC company’s stamp should bear the company name in English exactly as per the licence DMCC issued. For branches, the name with the DMCC Branch suffix and the location Dubai, UAE are the minimum. Address, phone and P.O. Box are optional. DMCC’s own stamps show the name in Arabic and English with Dubai, U.A.E.
The wider principle also appears in federal law: Article 13 of the Commercial Companies Law requires company documents and correspondence to bear the company name, legal form, registration number and address. A stamp that uses a shortened or informal name works against that consistency.
Shapes and sizes
The DMCC guideline shows four company stamp designs for Dubai businesses with these dimensions. Other authorities and stamp makers use similar formats, so they are a useful reference when you brief a design.

The same guideline notes that company names longer than 40 characters are given the rectangular design, which may be larger. Long names simply do not fit legibly on a curve.
Legibility
A company stamp design for Dubai is printed by hand, with uneven pressure and ink, often on textured paper or over existing text. Artwork that looks fine enlarged on a screen can close up completely at real size.
Arabic letters join along a baseline, and bending that baseline around a tight circle distorts the joins. We choose a clear typeface, adjust the spacing by hand and, for long Arabic names, recommend a straight line layout instead.
Hairline serifs and thin strokes vanish in rubber and polymer. We use sturdy letterforms and keep enough space between lines and borders so ink does not bridge the gaps.
Before approval we show the artwork printed at its true dimensions, and we recommend a test impression from the stamp maker before a set of stamps is ordered.
What to avoid
Federal Law No. 7 of 1972 describes the UAE National Emblem and states that it may not be used for commercial and industrial purposes, or in advertisements, without permission from the President. The same law reserves the National Seal, the emblem inside a circular frame, for ministries and public authorities. Company stamp design in Dubai should never use the falcon emblem or imitate a government seal.
The other mistakes are about accuracy. The most common problem we see is a trade name that differs slightly from the licence, such as a missing word, a different spelling of the legal form or an Arabic name retyped by someone unfamiliar with it. When a licence is amended, for example after a name change, the stamp artwork must be updated to match. It helps to brief the stamp together with the letterhead, envelopes and business cards, so the name is written one way everywhere.
Most companies need more than one stamp. Accounts teams use a paid or received date stamp; logistics teams use a goods received stamp; some businesses use a separate certified true copy stamp for documents they copy for clients. Each can share the same lettering system as the main company stamp so they read as one family. A matching seal area on your certificates can also echo the stamp design.

DMCC's company stamp guideline states that every legal entity in the UAE is required to have one, and banks and government departments commonly ask for stamped documents. Your own licensing authority is the right place to confirm what applies to your company.
Often yes, and some authorities that issue stamps offer a logo option. At stamp size a detailed logo can blur, so we usually make a simplified one colour version for the stamp. Keep the trade name as the dominant element.
If your authority produces the stamp to its own template, follow that route. A design is useful where you order from an independent stamp maker, need a second stamp such as a received or paid stamp, or want a digital stamp image that matches your physical one.
Many companies do, but a stamp image that anyone can copy from an email carries risk. Keep the file controlled, do not add it to email signatures, and ask the recipient whether they accept a digitally applied stamp or need a wet original.
