A flyer has one job: make a stranger stop, understand an offer and act on it before the paper is put down. In Dubai that stranger might be a resident collecting post in a tower lobby, a visitor at a trade stand in the World Trade Centre, or a shopper who picked a sheet up beside a till. We design flyers for businesses in Dubai and across the UAE around that moment, then hand over files your chosen printer can run without guesswork.

This page covers what to decide before briefing a flyer: the size, how the two sides split the message, the technical terms a printer will use, and the mistakes that most often spoil a run. For a piece with several folded panels, see brochure design instead. For all print formats, start at the print design hub.

Sizes

Pick your flyer design size for Dubai

The three A sizes below come from the ISO 216 series used by UAE printers. The DL flyer is a trade size equal to one third of an A4 sheet, which makes it fit a standard DL envelope or a rack.

FormatTrimmed sizeWorks well for
A4210 × 297 mmNotice boards, lift lobbies, product sheets handed over at a meeting
A5148 × 210 mmDoor drops, exhibition handouts, bag inserts; the most common choice
A6105 × 148 mmCounter pickups, delivery bag inserts, vouchers and invitations
DL99 × 210 mmHotel and clinic racks, mailings in DL envelopes, price lists

Sizes are trimmed dimensions before bleed. Confirm the exact size with your printer before design begins.

Structure

One offer, two sides, three seconds

The front of a flyer is a signpost, not a document. It needs one headline that says what is on offer, one image or graphic that supports it, and a visible reason to turn over or act now. Everything else goes on the back: terms, a short list of services, a map reference, opening hours, and the ways to reach you.

A common problem we see in flyer design for Dubai businesses is a flyer that tries to list every service a company offers. The reader cannot find the point and the page looks crowded at arm’s length. If you have five services, run five flyers or choose a folded format.

  • Front: headline, supporting visual, offer or date, logo
  • Back: detail, conditions, contact routes, QR code if used
  • Phone and WhatsApp written in full international form, +971
  • An end date for any offer, so old flyers do not come back to haunt you

What to send us for the brief

  • The single offer or event, in one sentence
  • Who receives it and where
  • Quantity and your printer’s name, if known
  • Logo files and brand colours
  • Photos at full resolution, or permission to use stock
  • Offer terms, dates, addresses and contact details
  • Whether Arabic, English or both are needed

Printer language

Bleed, trim and safe area explained for flyer design

Printers cut flyers from larger sheets in stacks, and a guillotine can drift slightly. Three zones absorb that movement.

Bleed

Any colour or photo that should touch the edge is extended past the trim line, commonly by 3 mm on each side. After cutting, no white sliver appears. Your printer will state the bleed they want.

Trim

The final size of the flyer, for example 148 × 210 mm for A5. Nothing important should depend on landing exactly on this line.

Safe area

A margin inside the trim where all text, logos and QR codes stay. We keep a wider margin on small A6 flyers, where a few millimetres of drift is proportionally larger.

Paper and finish

Flyer design questions to ask the printer

Stock choice changes how a flyer feels in the hand and how colour looks, a detail good flyer design in Dubai always plans for. These are the points worth raising when you request a quote from the print shop.

Weight

Lighter coated papers suit high volume door drops and inserts. Heavier card suits A6 vouchers and invitations people keep. Ask for a sample of two weights and hold them before deciding.

Gloss, silk or uncoated

Gloss makes photos punchy but reflects light. Silk is calmer and easier to read. Uncoated feels natural and accepts handwriting, useful if staff will write a name or code on each flyer.

Lamination and spot finishes

Matt or gloss lamination protects flyers that live on counters for weeks. Spot UV on a logo adds contrast, but it needs a separate artwork layer, so tell us before design starts.

Digital or offset

Short runs usually print digitally and larger runs on offset. The printer’s choice can affect their colour profile and bleed requirement, so we build the file after that decision.

Bilingual flyers

Arabic and English on a single sheet in the UAE

There are three honest ways to fit two languages on one flyer. Back to back puts Arabic on one side and English on the other, which gives each language full space. Side by side splits the page vertically, English reading from the left edge and Arabic from the right, with the shared visual in the middle. Separate runs print two versions, useful when you know which communities a building or area serves.

Arabic headlines often need different sizing to look equal in weight to English, and Arabic text is set right to left, as the W3C Arabic layout guidance describes. Numbers such as prices, phone numbers and dates stay left to right inside Arabic lines. We set both languages ourselves rather than pasting Arabic from a word processor, where letters can arrive disconnected. If you need the copy written first, see Arabic and English translation.

Mistakes that waste a Dubai flyer run

  • Photos taken from a website, too small for print
  • Rich colours set in RGB that print dull
  • QR code under 2 cm wide or placed on a busy photo
  • Text inside the bleed that gets cut off
  • Offer with no end date
  • Arabic pasted as broken, unjoined letters

When flyer design is the wrong tool

A flyer is fast and focused, but it is not always the answer. If people need to compare several services, a folded brochure gives them room. If the message is aimed at people scrolling on a phone, social media design or ad design will reach them where they already are. At an exhibition, a flyer works best alongside a roll up banner that pulls visitors in from the aisle, with the flyer as the thing they take away.

Once you share the brief, our flyer design service for Dubai sends a fixed written quote, scoped to that brief, and then moves through Create and Review until the artwork is approved. The final package is a press PDF plus any separate language or branch versions, named clearly so the printer runs the right file.

Frequently asked questions

Should our flyer be single sided or double sided?

If the flyer is handed over in person, use both sides: the offer on the front and the detail on the back. If it will sit on a counter or be pinned to a board, a strong single side is often enough, and the back can carry the Arabic version.

Can the same design work as a social media post?

The message and imagery can carry over, but the layout cannot simply be reused. A portrait A5 page and a square or vertical post crop differently, so we adapt it. See our social media design page for that format.

Do we need a QR code on the flyer?

Only if the page it opens is ready and works well on a phone. Point it at a specific landing page rather than your home page, and test the printed proof with two or three different phones before approving the run.

Can you prepare flyers for several branches or dates?

Yes. We design one master layout and then produce versions where only the branch address, phone number or date changes. Each version is a separate named file so the printer cannot mix them up.
