Process mapping
A documented, step by step map of the process as it is actually done today, including the exceptions staff currently handle manually, before any bot is built.
Automation and RPA
A bot built for one specific, repetitive process on systems with no usable API, as a dedicated developer, a scoped project, recruitment support or consulting.
Businesses hire an RPA developer in Dubai for one specific reason: a repetitive, rule based task runs on a screen that has no usable API, so the only reliable way to automate it is to operate the interface itself, the way a person does. An RPA developer builds that bot: reading and clicking through an application, entering data, copying values between systems, and handling the exceptions that come up along the way.
UiPath, one of the platforms most commonly used for this work, describes RPA as software that mimics how people interact with digital systems to carry out repetitive tasks accurately and without manual intervention. That is a fair description of the finished bot, but building one well is a distinct skill from writing an API integration: it means designing selectors that keep working when a screen shifts slightly, handling pop ups and errors the application throws up, and knowing when the process is too inconsistent for a bot to be worth building.
An RPA developer’s job usually starts and ends with one process. Once a business is running several bots and the work becomes keeping all of them reliable, that ongoing responsibility sits closer to an RPA engineer, which is a separate role on this site.
What the role builds
Concrete deliverables you get when you hire an RPA developer in Dubai for a single bot build.
A documented, step by step map of the process as it is actually done today, including the exceptions staff currently handle manually, before any bot is built.
The automation itself, built and tested against the real screens and data it will run against, not just a demo environment.
Logic for the cases that do not follow the standard path, such as a missing field or an unexpected pop up, so the bot stops and alerts someone rather than proceeding on bad data.
A defined way for the bot to log in and act within the systems it touches, scoped to only the access the process actually needs.
A record of what the bot did on each run, so someone can confirm it worked correctly without manually re checking its output.
A clear description of how the bot works and how to maintain it, so it does not depend on one person’s memory once it is live.
Skills that matter
Signs of a bot built to survive contact with a real, changing system.
| Skill or tool | What good looks like | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| A named RPA platform | Real, working experience with the platform your process needs, such as UiPath, Automation Anywhere or Blue Prism | The concepts transfer between platforms but the tooling, and how fast someone can work, does not |
| Selector and element design | Builds selectors that target elements reliably rather than by screen position alone | Fragile selectors are the most common reason a bot breaks after a minor interface update |
| Exception handling | Designs explicitly for what happens when a step fails, not only the successful path | An unhandled exception can leave a bot acting on incomplete or wrong data |
| Process understanding | Asks about the process itself, not just how to automate what they are told | A bot that automates a badly understood process just repeats the mistake faster |
| Testing before go live | Runs the bot against realistic data and edge cases before it touches production | A bot tested only on the happy path fails on the first real exception it meets |
UiPath’s own account of what RPA is emphasises that bots are meant to run continuously and consistently without manual correction, which is exactly why the checks above matter more than which platform badge sits on a CV.
Ways to work with us
One clearly defined process suits a scoped project: we map it, build the bot, test it against real data, and hand it over with documentation. A business planning several bots over time suits a dedicated developer who builds each one and supports what came before. Recruitment support fits a business that wants an in house RPA developer on its own payroll long term. Consulting fits earlier, before any bot is built, when the open question is which process is genuinely worth automating.
Assessing a candidate
These checks work whichever way you hire an RPA developer in Dubai, whether you run the interview yourself or ask us to run it as part of recruitment support.
Ask which process it automated, what exceptions it handled, and what broke after it went live.
Ask how they target elements on a screen and what they do when a selector stops matching after an update.
A candidate with real experience talks readily about the messy cases, missing data, unexpected pop ups, timeouts, not only the clean demo run.
Look for testing against real or realistic data and edge cases, not only a single successful run in a demo environment.
Ask to see a handover document from a past project. A bot with no documentation becomes unmaintainable the moment its builder leaves.
Certifications
Before you hire an RPA developer in Dubai, note that each major RPA platform runs its own certification, tied to that platform specifically.
UiPath, Automation Anywhere and Blue Prism each run their own developer certification for their own platform. There is no single certificate that covers RPA development in general across all three, so ask for the credential that matches the platform your process will actually run on.
Our platform specific pages, for UiPath and Automation Anywhere, name the current certification for each and how to verify it. A finished bot you can see run still tells you more than a certificate on its own.
UAE considerations
Points worth raising when you hire an RPA developer in Dubai for a bot that handles customer or staff records.
Federal Decree Law No. 45 of 2021, the UAE’s federal personal data protection law, applies to processing personal data through electronic systems, and a bot that reads or enters customer or staff records is processing that data just as a person would. Raise this early, particularly for finance or HR processes.
If the process touches an Arabic language system or bilingual forms, confirm the bot has been tested against Arabic text and right to left layouts, since a selector or extraction rule built and tested only in English can behave unpredictably on Arabic content.
This role sits in our automation and RPA category, part of the wider hire developers in Dubai section. If your process has a usable API rather than only a screen, our automation developer page is usually the faster route. Once you are running several bots, see our RPA engineer page for keeping them reliable, and if you have not yet chosen a process or a platform, our RPA consultant page covers that decision. For a bot that also needs to read unstructured documents or make a judgement call, see our intelligent automation developer page.
Straight answers
A good first candidate is repetitive, rule based, runs on a screen with no usable API, and is stable enough that the steps do not change often. A process that involves genuine judgement calls, or that changes shape every few weeks, tends to fight the bot rather than be helped by it.
It depends on what your business already runs and the systems the process touches. If you have not chosen a platform, our RPA consultant role covers that decision; if you already know it is UiPath, Automation Anywhere or Blue Prism, we can match a developer to that platform directly.
It depends entirely on the process: the number of steps, how many applications it touches, and how consistent the screens are. We give a written, scoped estimate after seeing the actual process, rather than a general figure.
A bot built against a specific screen layout can break when that layout changes, which is why a well built bot is written to fail visibly and alert someone rather than run silently against the wrong fields. Planning for maintenance from the start reduces how often this happens.
An RPA developer suits building your first bot, or a small number of them. Once you are running several bots and the work shifts to keeping them reliable day to day, our RPA engineer role is the closer fit.
