Developer and Certified Developer
Both are the same development role. The certified version is framed around Salesforce’s own credential, useful when verification matters to your hiring process as much as the work itself.
Salesforce
Apex, Lightning, Commerce Cloud, Marketing Cloud, CPQ, administration and architecture, as a dedicated developer, a scoped project, recruitment support or consulting.
Salesforce covers a wide range of work under one brand name, from a small business running standard Sales Cloud with a handful of custom fields, to a large enterprise with Apex code, Lightning components, CPQ pricing rules and a Commerce Cloud storefront all connected together. Businesses hire Salesforce developers in Dubai for very different reasons depending on where they sit on that range, and this category is built to help you find the right role rather than a single generic “Salesforce person”.
Salesforce’s own Apex Developer Guide describes Apex, the platform’s programming language, as strongly typed and object oriented, built specifically to run business logic on the Salesforce server alongside calls to its API. That distinction between configuration and code runs through everything on this page: some Salesforce work is done through setup screens and clicks, and some genuinely needs a developer who can write and debug Apex or Lightning components.
By role
Twelve roles, grouped by what each one actually does day to day.
| Role | What they do | When you need one |
|---|---|---|
| Salesforce Developer | Custom Apex code, integrations and general platform development | Standard Salesforce features cannot deliver what the business needs |
| Certified Salesforce Developer | The same development role, hired against a named, verifiable credential | A certification is one of your specific hiring requirements |
| Salesforce Apex Developer | Deep, code first work in Apex specifically, beyond general platform tasks | The project is defined by custom logic, triggers or batch processes |
| Salesforce Lightning Developer | Lightning web components and Lightning App Builder page design | The user interface itself needs custom building, not just configuring |
| Salesforce Commerce Cloud Developer | Storefront build and customisation on Salesforce’s ecommerce platform | Your online store runs, or will run, on Commerce Cloud specifically |
| Salesforce Marketing Cloud Developer | Journey building, email templates and data extensions in Marketing Cloud | Marketing automation needs building or connecting to other systems |
| Salesforce CPQ Developer | Pricing, quoting and product configuration logic on Salesforce CPQ | Quotes involve complex pricing rules, bundles or approval chains |
| Salesforce Consultant | Advising on setup, process design and how Salesforce should be used | You need a considered recommendation before configuration begins |
| Salesforce Technical Architect | Technical design decisions across code, data model and integrations | A complex org needs a coherent technical design, not ad hoc fixes |
| Salesforce Solution Architect | End to end design spanning business process and the Salesforce platform | Multiple teams or systems need to work through Salesforce together |
| Salesforce Administrator | Day to day setup, users, fields, flows, reports and dashboards | The org needs ongoing configuration and upkeep, not new code |
| Salesforce Integration Developer | Connecting Salesforce to other systems through APIs and middleware | Data needs to move between Salesforce and something outside it |
Choosing between close relatives
A few pairs on this page describe closely related work, split by what the hiring decision actually turns on.
Both are the same development role. The certified version is framed around Salesforce’s own credential, useful when verification matters to your hiring process as much as the work itself.
A general Salesforce developer usually covers Apex among other things. Hire specifically for Apex when the project is defined by heavy custom logic rather than a mix of configuration and code.
A technical architect focuses on the platform itself, code, data model and integrations. A solution architect works one level up, on how business process and the platform fit together. Larger programmes often need both.
Ways of working
Most roles on this page work as a dedicated developer joining your team on a monthly basis for ongoing configuration and build work, or as a scoped project with a defined deliverable and handover, such as a CPQ rollout or a Commerce Cloud storefront. Recruitment support fits a business that wants to hire Salesforce developers in Dubai directly onto its own payroll, where we source and technically assess candidates. Consulting and architecture time suits the roles higher up this page, where the deliverable is a design decision rather than configuration or code.

Straight answers
It depends on the work. Configuration within Salesforce's own setup screens, such as fields, flows and reports, is administrator territory. Custom code in Apex or Lightning is developer territory. A broader review of how Salesforce should be set up for your business is consultant or architect territory.
Both describe the same underlying role. Our Salesforce Developer page is written for a business deciding how to hire one. Our Certified Salesforce Developer page focuses specifically on what Salesforce's own certification proves and how to verify it, which is useful if a certification is central to your decision.
Often at a working level across the core Sales and Service Cloud, since they share the same underlying platform and Apex language. Commerce Cloud and Marketing Cloud are built on different underlying technology, so genuine depth in those usually needs a specialist.
Basic configuration is genuinely learnable by a non technical team member through Salesforce's own Trailhead platform. Once flows, integrations and custom objects grow complex, most Dubai businesses find it faster and safer to bring in someone who does this daily.
